Book tickets and visits →The museum lists the metro lines M2 and M4, stop Sant’Ambrogio, and the buses 50, 96 and 97. We could not confirm which stop belongs to which bus line, so check lines and stops with ATM. A single ticket for Milan and the surrounding area (zones Mi1 to Mi3) lasts 90 minutes from the first validation, and there is also a 24-hour ticket (ATM, read on 24 October 2026); the current fares are on the ATM website (atm.it).
The museum gives these routes on the M2 towards Abbiategrasso, all getting off at Sant’Ambrogio: from Milano Centrale 6 stops, from Porta Garibaldi 4 stops, from Lambrate 10 stops and from Cadorna 1 stop.
From Malpensa the museum suggests the Malpensa Express to Cadorna and then the M2 for 1 stop. From Linate it suggests the M4 towards San Cristoforo up to Sant’Ambrogio. From Orio al Serio it suggests a shuttle bus to Milano Centrale and then the M2 for 6 stops.
The Malpensa Express takes about 37 minutes from Cadorna, according to Trenord (read on 24 October 2026); the M4 takes 12 minutes from the centre to Linate, according to ATM. Trenord has works in 2026 that change some trains between Malpensa and Milano Centrale, so check Trenord before you travel.
The museum is inside Area C, the limited-traffic zone; we did not read the Area C charge. The Carducci Parking in Via Olona gives a free first hour if you validate the ticket at the Olona Pavilion at the end of the visit, says the museum.
In a straight line the museum is about 200 m from the Sant’Ambrogio metro stop, 415 m from the Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio, 490 m from the museum of the Last Supper (the Cenacolo Vinciano, which needs its own reservation: see our guide) and 1.7 km from the Duomo. These are distances on the map, not walking times, which we have not measured.
