Book tickets and visits →The institution can change times and routes, even because of bad weather, without any obligation to give notice. The notice calendar on the Veneranda Fabbrica's site is the place to check: on Saturday 24 October 2026, for example, it said that ticket sales stopped at 17:30 with last entry at 17:40, because of a vigil celebration from 17:30 to 19:00.
The Fabbrica has been restoring the tiburio and the dome since 2016, and there have been works in the Baptistery, in the Archaeological Area, since 29 January 2023; it gives no end date for them. Mass times, set by the cathedral, are on its liturgical page and can change.
Ordinary online tickets carry a date and a time slot. For Duomo and terraces tickets the chosen time is the entrance to the terraces climb; for the Culture Pass and Duomo + Museum it is the entrance to the cathedral. You can arrive 30 minutes before or after it; later, entry can be refused.
A combined ticket is valid on the date you choose and on the following day, for a single access to each place included.
On Wednesdays the museum is closed and only the Duomo ticket is sold. From 27 September 2026 the museum is free on the last Sunday of each month, from 10:00 to 19:00 with last entry at 18:00. Booking is compulsory and opens on the preceding Tuesday, with at most 2 places per booking and 3 bookings a day, and the tickets are nominal. On those Sundays only the Duomo ticket is sold, not the combined ones with the museum. By our count the next dates are 25 October, 29 November and 27 December 2026.
The ticket pages give: terraces from 60 minutes, Duomo + Museum from 60 minutes, Duomo and terraces from 120 minutes, Culture Pass and Fast-Track Pass from 120 minutes, Museum from 45 minutes, Archaeological Area and Scurolo from 15 minutes each.
