Sforza Castle: frequently asked questions

Which tickets and rates does the Castle have?

The Castle has one ticket for all its museums, with a reduced rate and free entry for several categories (under 18 among them), and also lists cards such as the Milano Museo Card and the Tourist Museum Card. The ticket is valid on the day it is issued, with one entry per section, and the Castle says it is not refundable. Read on 24 October 2026.

Is the Pietà Rondanini a separate ticket?

No. The Castle says the ticket is single for the Castle museums and for the Pietà Rondanini museum.

Can I see Leonardo’s Sala delle Asse?

Not at the moment. A notice on the Comune’s official site says the Sala delle Asse is closed for restoration (read on 24 October 2026). We found no reopening date.

When is entry free, and do I need to book?

Individuals do not need to book. Entry is free for everyone on the first Sunday of the month, with tickets collected at the desk and no online sale, and up to age 25 on the second Tuesday. Under 18s are always free. The courtyards are free every day from 7:00 to 19:30.

How do the museum ticket and the tour or audio-guide options differ?

The Castle’s ticket covers all the museums, the Pietà Rondanini included, and the audio guide is hired separately at the bookshop. The cards on this site show three options: an entry ticket with a digital audio guide that also covers the city (rated 3.9 from 272 reviews), a 90-minute live-guided tour with entry included and the Pietà Rondanini (rated 4.6 from 32 reviews), and a half-day guided tour with the Duomo and the Castle (one review so far). The Castle’s own weekend guided visits are at 11:00 (Saturday in English, Sunday in Italian), without booking. Read the cancellation terms of what you buy: the Castle says its own ticket is not refundable.
