By metro, tram and bus

In a straight line from the entrance, Lanza (M2) is about 480 m, Montenapoleone (M3) about 420 m and Cairoli (M1) about 650 m. These are distances on the map, not walking times. Check lines and fares on the ATM site.

By train

From Milano Centrale, change to the M2 or the M3. From Milano Garibaldi, take the M2. From Cadorna FN, take the M2 (the museum’s directions).

From Malpensa airport

The museum suggests the Malpensa Express to Cadorna, then the M2 to Lanza. According to the Malpensa Express site, read on 24 October 2026, the journey from Cadorna takes about 37 minutes, with a train about every 30 minutes. We could not confirm current timetables or fares, and Trenord has works in 2026 that change some trains: check Trenord.

From Linate airport

Metro M4 links the centre of Milan to Linate in 12 minutes, according to ATM, and meets the M1 at San Babila. At San Babila change to M1 towards Cairoli (three stops further, after Duomo and Cordusio, our count from the station list), then walk about 650 m in a straight line.

From Bergamo Orio al Serio

The museum suggests the shuttle to Milano Centrale and then the M3 to Montenapoleone.

By car

The museum names the paid Parking Car Brera at Via Brera 3/A and asks drivers to watch the ZTL. There is one reserved parking space in the courtyard for visitors with a disability.

On foot, around Brera

The red-brick facade of Brera Palace along a city street, with a stone portal, flags on the upper floor and a large banner on the wall; pedestrians walk the sidewalk.

In a straight line from the entrance: the Braidense Library (in the same building) about 30 m, the Orto Botanico 170 m, Palazzo Citterio 200 m, the Museo Poldi Pezzoli 500 m, the Teatro alla Scala 520 m, the Castello Sforzesco 690 m, the Duomo 930 m and Santa Maria delle Grazie about 1.6 km. These are map distances, not walking times.

Access for visitors with reduced mobility

The lift entrance at Via Fiori Oscuri 2 leads to the Pinacoteca reception, and two electric wheelchairs are available at the ticket office. The museum also offers tactile bas-reliefs, the “DescriVedendo” guide for blind visitors, a video guide in Italian Sign Language for the 10 masterpieces and an easy-reading “Museo per tutti” guide.
